Music, Visual Arts Share Stage at Temps d'Images 2011 in Istanbul

A festival of visual and performing arts is bringing music and images together at garajistanbul, the Turkish venue for the third year of the international event.

Among the highlights of this year’s Temps d’Images Festival is a concert Tuesday at 10 p.m. by the five-person French group Zenzile, which creates music to accompany images. The group’s live performance will be accompanied by a screening of Robert Wiener’s 1919 silent film “Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari” (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari).

The festival, which continues until April 30 at the central Istanbul venue, features musical genres such as electro, dub step, techno and experimental house; visual and interactive arts; interdisciplinary theater and dance performances; and workshops and seminars about technology and art interaction conducted in collaboration with Istanbul universities.

The Temps d’Images project was initiated in 2002 as a joint endeavor by the French television station ARTE and La Ferme Du Buisson, an international space for the production and dissemination of art. The interdisciplinary project seeks to create new artistic forms and partnerships by focusing upon the relationship between performance arts and images.
