Istanbul Modern to Host Traveling Video Project

Istanbul Modern Cinema is hosting the third selection of Art in the Auditorium, a video project by Whitechapel Art Gallery that takes contemporary video, animation, and short films to different corners of the world.

Among the artists in this year’s itinerant video program, which includes works by artists from 10 countries, are Ergin Çavuşoğlu with his work referencing Andy Warhol’s film “Empire;” Swiss artist Elodie Pong with her film in which stuffed birds debate the economic crisis; and Vietnamese artist Dinh Q. Le with his film that brings actor Charlie Sheen and his father Martin Sheen together. Le, by splicing together excerpts from their films, explores different subjects ranging from Hollywood and war to the complexity of family relationships and the problematic nature of history.

The project is being organized in collaboration with the Institute for the Re-adjustment of Clocks.

The event will start Thursday and continue until April 24.
