Filmmor Women’s Film Festival kicks off in Istanbul

Female directors from around the world will be the guest of a Turkish festival with their films on women. The ninth International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival starts Saturday in Istanbul and will move to Van and Trabzon after the screenings in the city. The festival will also feature workshops and photography exhibitions for and about women

Against the backdrop of the practical inequalities that lead to violence and even murder against women and statements and actions against gender equality, this year’s festival is organized under the slogan “We are Equal.” The main question the festival asks is, “But what about in reality?”

The French Culture Center, Istanbul Modern and Cezayir are the venues for this year’s Filmmor Festival, which will feature 61 films by 88 female directors from 25 countries. The films will be screened under various sections.

Tickets for the festival will be available in festival venues as well as on the website Ticketturk.
