Duet: Armenians, Turks to dance together in Istanbul

Hurriyet Daily News & Economic Review (Istanbul) reports that Turkish dancers will join the Armenian troupe “Maral” (founded in 1976 by Istanbul’s Armenian society) in a show called ‘Istanbulluys’.

Ninety dancers ranging from age 6-25 will take part in the show.

“The songs, actions and figures are so similar that it is not possible to tell the love for humanity in the poetry of Armenian Sayat Nova and Turkish Yunus Emre with a different language. This is why we try to do something beyond identities,” General Art Director of dance and theater group Shaman Murat Uygun said.
