Art Expo Istanbul 2011 supporting young artists

The competition in the art market is tough and it is crucial for young artists who are trying to find a place in the market to have someone or some institution to support them. At this point, much of the mission falls to art galleries and art event organizers to offer such backing for up-and-coming artists.

Art Expo Istanbul 2011 is one example of platforms that provide opportunities for young artists. Organized by the İstanbul-based International Art Center (IAC), the ongoing exhibition brings together the work of 100 artists from 23 countries.

The 220-piece exhibition is on display at the IAC gallery in the district of Bağlarbaşı until Sunday, after which it will travel to İzmir for a selected showcase of the works of 40 artists as part of the İzmir Biennial, from May 4-11. The selection will then head overseas, to the US, for an exhibition in California in August.
